Crappie Hushpuppies

This recipe takes a time tested old-fashioned hushpuppy recipe and puts a crappie twist on it. Serve them up to your friends during the next ballgame or NASCAR race along with our exclusive crappie dipping sauce and you'll be the hit of the party.

2 cups self-rising cornbread mix.2 tablespoons flour.
2 tablespoons brown sugar.
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion.
2 tablespoons finely chopped green pepper.
1 cup whole milk.
2 eggs, beaten.
1/2 cup flaked crappie pieces, steamed until done.

Combine conrmeal, flour, sugar, onion and green pepper in mixing bowl. Gradually beat in milk and eggs. Gently stir-in flaked crappie pieces, then let stand for 5 minutes without stiring.

Drop by small spoonfuls into 360 degree deep fryer.

Fry until golden brown on outside; drain on paper towels and serve while hot.
